Russell Herring, DNP, FNP-C, FNP-BC, specializes in preventive and therapeutic healthcare for both acute and chronic illness, believing that preventative care is the bedrock of primary, family practice. He has a particular passion for evidence-based patient education and treatment, designed not only to return ill patients to a state of wellness, but to forestall illness altogether. He has great interest in topics of nutrition, fitness, obesity, cardiovascular disease and the interplay between these conditions.
Russell graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2003 with his Bachelor of Science in Zoology, with a dual emphasis in Physiology and Genetics. He then went on to complete his Master of Aeronautical Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University before pursuing his education in nursing. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, moving immediately into the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Montana State University. His doctoral project focused on the utilization of specially-trained heart failure nurses as part of the heart failure treatment team and the beneficial impacts such a position could have on patient outcomes.
The United States Air Force originally brought Team Herring from Wyoming to Montana, with Russell serving in several positions within missile operations and maintenance at Malmstrom Air Force Base. He has over five years of experience as a registered nurse in various positions including cardiology, trauma, and radiology.
Russell enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with Legos, mountain biking, weightlifting, writing, and exploring the world.
